Woman Named “Beer” Banned from Brewing Competition in New Zealand Because of Her Gender

BeerNews
Nope…I couldn’t make this up…a woman named Rachael Beer was banned from a New Zealand home-brewing competition.  Her brew named “Beer’s Beer” wasn’t banned because of her name or her beer’s name…but instead because it was a male-only competition!  The judges allowed her to enter her dark Tipple beer, but indicated it would not be judged.  Ironically (and completely non-sexist)…traditionally brewing was a predominantly female responsibility.  Welcome to 2012!
