I’m not sure if it’s the wonderful artwork or the wonderful beer (or both), but I always get excited when a package from Indeed Brewing arrives at mybeerbuzz headquarters.
Today we’ll be highlighting not one, but two of their beers and two of my returning favorites.
Up first is Stir Crazy and if you’re not familiar, it is porter brewed with brown sugar, raisin, cacao and vanilla. This beer pours a deep rich brown with a light tan head. The aromas begin with a touch of coffee and finish with a really pleasant and candy-like chocolate thanks in part to the coffee and chocolate malts. The flavors were wonderfully complex with a laundry list of descriptors we love: chocolate, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruits, sweet vanilla and coffee. The finish is a bit roasty (like a proper porter should be) with a really nicely balanced caramel finish. The mouthfeel is full-bodied with the creamy softness contributed by the flaked oats. Stir Crazy swings in at 6.5%-AbV and a sweet 20 IBU and we found the drinkability and balance really made us want to drink more (and more). All-in-all this is a really nice porter that I know you will like.
Up next We have Let It Roll IPA and after hearing the news that this beer would return for 2017, we couldn’t wait to try it again. This was a beer we sampled last year, and it remains one of our favorites. Let It Roll pours a bright golden color and the aromas of grapefruit and citrus will grab your nose (in a good way). Tropical fruit aromas follow and your first sip will lead with grapefruit and finish with floral and citrus hop notes. The hop bill has changed from last year and for 2017 Let It Roll will use Centennial, Denali, Eureka and El Dorado (dropping last year’s Amarillo, Citra and Lemondrop hops). I do like that the presence of lemon aromas and flavors is a bit lighter this year, and the grapefruit presence is much more prominent. Let It Roll finishes bright and citrusy and at 6.2%-AbV and a big 86 IBU, you’ll find this beer to be very drinkable and nicely hoppy.
Let It Roll is available now through Feb in 12oz cans and on draft and Stir Crazy is available Oct through March in 12oz cans and on draft so be sure to get out there are try these for yourself. And when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
