(Hole, Wyoming) Wyoming based Melvin Brewing (The little 3bbl brewery in the back of Thai Me Up Restaurant) has inked a distribution deal with Seattle-based Great Artisan Beverages. They will begin distributing the 2×4 Double India Pale Ale to Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties today. The reasons for distributing to the PACNW are simple, founder and brewer Jeremy Tofte grew up there. He will now be able to see his family, ride Baker, hang out at Boundary Bay and surf the coast on a regular basis. Head Brewer Kirk McHale just likes the idea because he’s never been there and “it seems like a sweet place”. He also wants to someday see the Lakers not beat the Supersonics. Plus, since hip-hop has been outlawed in WY, we are excited to see some shows in the Seattle area!
At the exact same time, Melvin signed on with Crooked Stave Distributing in Denver. We will be appearing live on a regular basis at Backcountry Pizza in Boulder and perhaps The Kitchen and possibly The Source (although absolutely none of these places have been confirmed or contacted about our plans). Our real goal is to be on tap at Shotgun Willy’s (please).
2×4 DIPA has won Gold at GABF and 2 consecutive Hop Union Alpha King Championships, which is actually common among start-ups. The award we are most proud of is the 2013 North American Brewers Association Gold in the Double IPA category. This award proves that we make better DIPA’s than Mexico AND Canada (Canada gets an “eh” for effort, while Mexico only gets a “si”).
Please don’t drink our beer with farm-raised salmon. See you at the Banked Slalom!
