I know that’s a long header, so I’ll let 3 Floyds explain:
Here’s a look at our ever expanding forays into media domination. Premiering at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Drinking Buddies, is the newest offering from local Chicago filmmaker, Joe Swanberg.
“Weekend trips, office parties, late night conversations, drinking on the job, marriage pressure, biological clocks, holding eye contact a second too long… you know what makes the line between “friends” and “more than friends” really blurry? Beer.”
and from the SXSW synopsis:
KATE (Olivia Wilde) and LUKE (Jake Johnson) are two beer geeks who work in a Chicago brewery, where they spend all day flirting and drinking. They’re perfect for each other… except that they’re both in committed relationships. Jake and his schoolteacher girlfriend, JILL (Anna Kendrick) are entering the ”should we get married?” phase of their relationship, while Kate is playing it cool with her older, music producer boyfriend, CHRIS (Ron Livingston). When Kate and Luke unexpectedly find themselves alone together for a summer weekend, the beer starts flowing, and suddenly the line between “friends” and “more than friends” starts to get very blurry.
Joe is a longtime friend of our brewery production manager, Andrew Mason, who acted as brewery consultant for the film. Olivia and Jake came down to Munster to get a hands on feel for what it’s like to work in a growing regional brewery. In addition to hanging out with us, large portions of the film were shot at
Revolution’s production brewery. Look for beers from us, Revolution, Half Acre, Bells, and Founders to be featured in the film. We’re pretty excited to see how it turns out. Also, you fans of Showtime’s Shameless should keep an eagle eye on the upcoming episodes. If you think you see what we’re hinting at, take a screen shot and email it to info@3floyds.com First correct reply will win a prize.
