Karl Strauss Releasing Amber Lager & More

Oktoberfest Small Batches

Hi friends,

As you know, this year's newest batch of Oktoberfest maaay have come out early, along with this year's brand new .5L stein (glass + fill = $15 don't ya know), but believe it or not…the festivities are just getting started!

Over the next few weeks, you'll notice a slight change to our Small Batch Spotlight posts on social media. We give you… Small Batch Spotlight, Fest Hits Edition!

We've brought back an ol' favorite that we think you *might* recognize, along with some brand-new-never-before-released German styles that we know you'll love. Plus, a beer we brewed for an important cause. Save the date(s) and head on over to any of our brewpubs to get your paws on these elusive brews:

Karl Strauss Amber Lager

Tapping THIS Thursday 9/14:

Karl Strauss Amber Lager

"You'll agree, it's the best beer you've ever tasted or my name isn't Karl Strauss." The beer that started it all. It was February 2nd, 1989 when we opened our original brewery on Columbia Street in downtown San Diego, with Amber Lager being the first craft beer to hit the scene post-prohibition! Imported Munich malts gives this easy drinking brew its deep bronze color, smooth body, and crisp toasted flavor.

Alter Ego Altbier

Tapping Thursday 9/21:

Alter Ego Altbier

Get introduced to your much cooler Alter Ego as you take a sip of this medium-bodied German ale bursting with toasty, caramel, and nutty flavors. A distinct noble hop presence and slightly lingering bitterness characterize this sessionable, balanced brew.

Kokua Project IPA

Tapping Thursday 9/28:

Kokua IPA

This week, we'll be taking a break from our German-style small batch brews to introduce a beer for a cause. Karl, alongside a number of the nation's leading breweries, are joining the Kokua Project to raise funds and awareness for those affected by the Maui wildfires. 100% of Kokua IPA's net proceeds will go directly to the Legacy of Aloha, Makai Foundation, and Maui Brewing Co. Fire Fund.

Dark Helmet Imperial Dunkel

Tapping Thursday 10/5:

Dark Helmet Imperial Dunkel Weizen

Ready to take things to ludicrous speed? This Imperial Dunkel features a roasted chocolate-caramel character and a warm, sweet malt finish. It's the perfect pint to ring in October and offer a warm welcome to cozy, fall vibes.

Plus, Hell Yes, a small batch Helles will also be available at Karl Strauss brewpubs throughout the season. Call ahead at your nearest location to check what small batches are tapping.

91X Broadcast Oktoberfest Celebration at 4S Ranch

How else to enjoy the celebration? Come down to our 4S Ranch location on 9/30 from 1pm-4pm for a LIVE 91X broadcast: Munich style! We'll be tasting and talking all of our small batches, plus hosting a stein-holding contest and live raffle to win sick prizes! Stay tuned for more info.

91X and Karl Strauss Stein Holding Contest and Raffle

Can't make it out to the pubs to try our Small Batches this season? You can still join in on the festivities. Oktoberfest is available on draft AND in 6-pack bottles all over California and Arizona. Check out our Beer Finder to find out where you can enjoy this seasonal fave near you. Prost!
