Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Switchback Brewing Zaboo Hazy IPA (Review)

I’ll admit up front that I knew very little about Switchback Brewing prior to today’s article, so I’m really excited to get a chance to try their beer. Located in Burlington, VT and named for a trail and skiing feature I’m all too familiar with, Switchback Brewing was founded in 2002 by master brewer Bill Cherry and friend Jeff Neiblum. Their beers are 100% naturally conditioned and unfiltered and they were the first 100% employee-owned brewery in Vermont.

Today we’ll be sampling their new Zaboo Hazy IPA which was release in 12oz and 16oz cans as well as draft on June 1st 2022. The beer is a hazy IPA that continues the 100% naturally conditioned tradition and it has what Switchback calls, “a zestful and effervescent blend of hops, hand selected to amplify aroma.” This fan favorite beer will be available at Switchback as well as throughout New England and Upstate New York by late June. Naturally I can’t wait to try it…so off we go.

Switchback Brewing Zaboo Hazy IPA

ABV:  5.9%
Style:  Hazy IPA
Packaging:  16oz cans
Appearance:  Hazy golden orange
Aroma:   Apricot, peach, citrus, melon, hops, hops and more hops---Very aromatic beer!
Mouthfeel:   Medium
Taste:   Juicy and fruity flavors that include fresh peaches, ripe melon, tangerines, oranges & citrusy hops
Overall:  Zaboo Hazy IPA has a really nice combination of fruit-forward flavors and aromas, and I particularly loved the fresh peaches and oranges in the mix. With each sip I found new flavors like pear and melon and the complexity and drinkability were really outstanding. Overall this was a really enjoyable fruit-forward hazy IPA that I immediately wanted to open another can when I hit the bottom of the first can.

Zaboo Hazy IPA is available now in 12oz and 16oz cans so get out there are try one for yourself. Better yet, get up to Swicthback Brewing in Burlington, VT and enjoy one at the source.  And when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
