I’m always excited to get a care package at mybeerbuzz headquarters from 10 Barrel Brewing…and while I’ve enjoyed all of their beers, I really like their IPA and hoppy beers. Their mix of fruit-forward IPA’s and new innovative IPAs always works for me, so today I’m happy to say I have both.
Just a week or so ago I brought you the news of the new 10 Barrel Club Tread Mandarin IPA. This beer is the first of many new March releases coming from 10 Barrel and this IPA leans on the sessionable side. At 5%-AbV, this fruit forward IPA is brewed with Mandarin orange and at 45 IBU you’ll find it infinitely hoppy.
I’m also excited to get my hands on the about-to-be-released 10 Barrel Rock Hop. This beer is a collaboration with Portland-based Danner Boots and a Portion of Proceeds will Benefit Trailkeepers of Oregon to Preserve and Maintain Hiking Trails. This #drinkitforward beer is a Cold IPA that uses Azacca, Cashmere, El Dorado, and Idaho 7 hops and cold fermentation and it will hike in at 7.1%-AbV.
Of course I can’t wait to try both beers so off we go…
10 Barrel Club Tread
ABV: 5%
IBU: 45
Style: IPA
Packaging: 12oz cans
Appearance: Clear gold
Aroma: Citrus, Mandarin orange & tropical fruits
Mouthfeel: Medium
Taste: Fruit-forward with a bright orange finish and sweet citrus in the middle
Overall: Club Tread has a lot to like in a beer. This sessionable IPA doesn’t disappoint with a strong hoppy presence, a fresh fruit forward aroma and taste and loads of flavor. Overall this is a really enjoyable, crushable, thirst quenching and refreshing IPA.
10 Barrel Rock Hop
ABV: 7.1%
IBU: 45
Style: Cold IPA
Packaging: 12oz cans
Appearance: Cloudy golden orange
Aroma: Citrus and resinous hops
Mouthfeel: Medium & soft
Taste: Resinous pine, tropical fruit and sweet oranges.
Overall: Rock Hop has big hop flavor like a traditional west coast-style IPA and it is loaded with both resinous pine and orange flavors. Overall the beer is complex and has all of the hop flavors you’d expect in a Cold IPA while still remaining crisp, refreshing and really drinkable.
Both 10 Barrel Club Tread and Rock Hop will be available in the month of March so get out there and try them for yourself. And when you do try them, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
