Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Silver City Brewery Mystic Mojo, Tropic Chronic and Alive & Amplified

Back in Sept 2020, I had my very first opportunity to try some unique beers from Silver City Brewery in Bremerton, WA. Back then, I was lucky enough to sample eight different beers and I can tell you they were all tasty. With that in mind, I was excited to see another care package arrive at mybeerbuzz headquarters today with more Silver City beer to try.

If you’re not familiar with the brewery, it was started in 1996 by Scott and Steve Houmes and their beers are available in cans, kegs and 22oz bottles in the Pacific Northwest with a taproom in Bremerton, WA and a restaurant in Silverdale, WA….and as Silver City puts it, “For most in the Puget Sound, when you look west at the Olympic Mountains you're looking right at the "Silver City". The convergence point right before you jump off into the wilderness of the Olympic National Forest on your way to the Pacific Ocean, resting between the edge of the Puget Sound and the base of the Olympic Mountains, rests Silver City. This Urban-Suburban experience is a sweet brewer's mash of Seattle city life and breathtaking outdoor adventure, all within ones reach. Beer, well made, brings the people of the "Silver City" together in celebration of having it all.

Today we’ll be sampling Silver City Mystic Mojo, Tropic Chronic and Alive & Amplified….and naturally I can’t wait to try them all…so off we go.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Silver City Brewery Mystic Mojo, Tropic Chronic and Alive & Amplified

Silver City Mystic Mojo

ABV:  7%
IBU: 50
Style:  IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Cloudy golden orange
Aroma:   Sweet malt, resinous pine & bright tangerine
Mouthfeel:   Medium & soft
Taste:   Fruit-forward with a piney resinous finish and sweet citrus in the middle
Overall:  Mystic Mojo leans heavily into the NEIPA category and even though the flavors don’t come from actual fruit, the Citra and Columbus hops really amp up the citrus presence. The soft mouthfeel and layers of flavor really make this a more complex beer than I was expecting. Overall the balance leans a bit sweet on the malt and citrus side, but the resinous finish balances it all out nicely.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Silver City Brewery Mystic Mojo, Tropic Chronic and Alive & Amplified

Silver City Tropic Chronic

ABV:  6.4%
IBU: 50
Style:  IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Hazy yellow
Aroma:   Marijuana, marijuana and more marijuana
Mouthfeel:   Medium & creamy
Taste:   Citrus, resinous pine and sweet fruits
Overall:  Tropic Chronic is an experimental version of Tropic Haze IPA with aromatic compounds from terpenes. This amps up the dank resinous marijuana aromas and also adds several layers of flavors to the mix. Overall this beer is more than just a nod to marijuana flavors and aromas and in the end it has a really drinkable mix of flavors on board that I really enjoyed.

Silver City Alive & Amplified

ABV:  7%
IBU: 65
Style:  Supercharged IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Unfiltered orange
Aroma:   Hoppy and fruity with prominent peach, apricot and mango
Mouthfeel:   Medium
Taste:   Citrus, tropical fruit and sticky dank pine
Overall:  Alive & Amplified’s claim to fame is that it is Silver City’s hoppiest beer, and when you pop the can, you’ll get hit with that hop aroma right up front. The beer uses their “Hop Amplifier” process and it delivers the bold flavors from Citra, Mosaic, Chinook, Centennial, and Galaxy hops very nicely. Overall this beer is bright and drinkable and while it definitely leans into hop bitterness, the flavors and balance make for a really nice beer.image
