I should admit up from that I’m not a Seattle Seahawks fan or even an NFL fan, but I’m definitely a fan of good beer and today I have a new one to sample. This beer comes to us from our pals at Elysian Brewing in Seattle, WA and the beer is called Hawkitect.
I brought you a peek at this beer back in June, and the full details in Aug, and now I get to try one out. Hawkitect is a collaboration with the Seattle Seahawks football team and it will be part of the NFL Kickoff 2021 series. This limited edition American wheat ale is packaged in 16oz cans and it will fly in at the perfect sessionable AbV….5%. I should also mention that a portion of the net proceeds from every can sold goes to help eliminate homelessness through the Seattle-based organization, Plymouth Housing.
Naturally I’m excited to give it a try…so off we go.
Elysian Hawkitect
ABV: 5%
Style: American Wheat
Packaging: 16oz cans
Appearance: Hazy golden straw
Aroma: Citrus & pineapple
Mouthfeel: Medium soft
Taste: Citrus, tropical fruit, mango and pineapple
Overall: Hawkitect has the initial notes of a standard American wheat ale, but then on your second sip, the tropical fruits, pineapple and citrus kick in to make it much more. The beer is both sessionable and satisfying and my 16oz can was gone very quickly. Overall I really think Hawkitect has a great combination of flavors on board and a really nice fruit-forward balance.
Elysian Brewing Hawkitect is available now through November throughout Washington state as well as at Lumen Field for all Seahawks home games in 2021-2022…so get out there and try it for yourself. And when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
