Cartridge Brewing Awards + Sip Trip Collab

From Cartridge Brewing:

A 3-Day Weekend of Excursions, Collabs and Kudos

Maineville, OH —When it comes to awards and activities, Labor Day weekend was one for the record books.

It started with Cartridge’s inaugural Sip Trip – a brewery-to-brewery bike ride along the Little Miami Scenic Trail in partnership with Fifty West Brewing Company. More than 50 riders took to the trail, armed with a passport and a mission: complete the 19-mile journey (38 for those brave enough to pedal round trip) and enjoy four beers along the way – at the start, finish, plus two stops in between at Cappy’s, local fave and craft beer purveyor, and Miamiville Trailyard, restaurant and new-kid-on-the-trail.

Some began at Cartridge and rode to Fifty West, some chose vice-versa, but it was clear that all enjoyed the sunshine and libations.

“We’re having a blast,” said two riders, proudly displaying their stamped passports. “This was a great idea! The passports, the mandatory beer stops, all along the bike trail and at your own pace … it’s a perfect day. We’re already excited for the next one.”

Being the inaugural two-brewery bike-trail event, the brewing teams at Cartridge and Fifty West decided to up the ante with their first collaboration beer – releasing Sip Trip Kölsch the day of the ride.

“The team at Fifty West brought up the idea of doing a Kölsch, and we ran with it … brewing it together here at our brewhouse,” said Adam Mills, head brewer. “It’s a perfect beer for this time of year, especially coming off the trail … easy-drinking and approachable.”

And although the collab and the trip seemed to be the highlight of the long weekend, Cartridge ended the holiday on a high note – taking home three awards in its first time entering the U.S. Open Beer Championship.

“It’s a big achievement for us,” said Adam. “In just our first year of being open, we earned three medals – gold, silver and bronze, in a Top 3 beer competition, among more than 8,000 entries. We have a great team!”

The brewery’s new hardware includes a bronze medal for Hollow Point Hibiscus Ale (Tea Beer), silver for Up the Hill Munich Helles (Munchner Helles, Light), and gold for Smokestack Smoked Golden Lager (Smoke/Rauch Beer).
