It’s still very hard for me to believe that I’ve been enjoying the beer from today’s brewery for almost 30-years. Of course I’m excited to wish them a Happy 30th Anniversary, but perhaps I’m even more excited to taste what they brewed to celebrate the occasion.
I’m talking about Flying Dog and today I’ll be sampling Great Job! 30th Anniversary Beer! The beer is a big west coast-style double IPA and according to the brewery, “Flying Dog’s brewmasters boiled down everything they have learned in the past 30 years and poured it into one very special anniversary beer.”
Great Job! 30th Anniversary Beer! is brewed with Simcoe, Columbus and Centennial hops and I’m really excited to see how 30-years of hoppy brewing experience translate into this Flying Dog beer….so off we go….
Flying Dog Great Job! 30th Anniversary Beer!
ABV: 9%
Style: West Coast-style IPA
Packaging: 12oz bottles
Appearance: Bright & clear amber orange
Aroma: Resinous & dank
Mouthfeel: Sticky and satisfying
Taste: Piney & resinous with loads of citrus
Overall: Great Job! 30th Anniversary Beer! is a really drinkable west coast-style IPA with just the right amount of lingering bitter hops. The combination of sticky, dank and resinous hops is balanced out by some really prominent citrus flavors. Overall the beer is hop-forward but balanced and I was really surprised just how drinkable the 9%-AbV is.
Great Job! 30th Anniversary Beer! was released on 9/20 in 12oz bottles & 6-packs. This beer puts a nice punctuation mark on 30-years of innovation and hop slaughter by Flying Dog and you should definitely get out there and enjoy one for yourself…and when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
