Here’s the 2019 in review from DC Brau:
In a year that had everything from an extended government furlough to not one but two national championships (Go Nats & Mystics!), and ended with some refreshing Full Transparency, 2019 kept all of us on our toes here at DC Brau. THANK YOU for your ongoing support of all that we do at the brewery and in the community! We don’t know about you, but we’re extremely excited to see what the next decade holds for all of us. Happy New Year!
Cheers to another great year ahead in 2020!
Before we barrel our way into 2020, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on the past year, which saw some big changes to the Brau Family and our brews, as well as a lot of awesomeness along the way.
What We Brewed Up in 2019
Never ones to simply go with the flow, 2019 saw the introduction of two big new brews here at DC Brau. Early in the year, we announced that The Citizen would be replaced with a brand new hazy IPA called JOINT RESOLUTION. It was the first big shake-up to our flagship line-up in our brewery's history, and we're thrilled that you all are loving JR (Citizen fans need not fear, the Belgian Pale Ale will return as a seasonal in 2020). As you may have noticed, it was a huge year for hard seltzer. It's not very often that you get to be a part of a brand new beverage category, so it goes without saying we're excited to be the first to put our stamp on this fast-growing market with FULL TRANSPARENCY here in the DMV and beyond. But that's just the start! The barrel program rolled out more great beer, including the boozy Churros for Breakfast and our Jameson Caskmates series brews (Stand & Deliver and Your Pet Cow). At our annual Holiday Market in November, we brewed a fun little "wassail" cask for our friends at Krampusnacht DC and released this year's edition of Wake Up in the Future, which we offered in vertical two-packs with last year's version (a limited amount has been reserved for next year, too!). Along the way, we celebrated Rickey Month here in DC with a Cherry Lime Rickey Gose, played with color in a Lavender Lemonade Berliner Weisse, and there was a Spawn of Space Reaper and Stacked Vote. We upped the ante with a Nitro Mocha Pils using Junius Cold Brew and a PQP with Coffee from Vigilante. We finished out the year with THREE different variations of The Legislator, including Salted Caramel and Coquito flavors. We were also privileged to collaborate with a ton of great partners this year, including The Salt Line (Sea You at the Bottom), Dacha (Dachnik), The Hamilton (BIPArtistan IPA), Adroit Theory (For the Dogs in the Slums), Union (Yonder Cities), and the rest of the DC beer community for the DC Beer Week Solidarity brew, to name a few.
Be on the lookout for some fresh new brews rolling out in early 2020, including a big release at this year's HopFest in March!
