ATLANTA (February 12, 2018) – Georgia’s original craft brewery has brought home a bronze medal for one of its core offerings: Homestand Pilsner.
The Best of Craft Beer Awards take place each February in Bend Ore., and is open to breweries across the globe. The competition follows BJCP guidelines and awards medals in 90 award categories. Homestand Pilsner won bronze in the category of Contemporary American-Style Pilsner.
This award comes on the heels of Atlanta Brewing Company celebrating its 25th anniversary and
rebranding. Along with the rebrand came new core beer offerings, and a full 2019 calendar of limited
release offerings.
“It’s a thrill to be able to write the next chapter of this company’s history through new beer concepts,” says Gavin McKenna, Director of Brewing Operations, “Recognition for our Pilsner speaks volumes about our commitment to process and details in providing great beers for beer drinkers around Atlanta.” Homestand Pilsner is built to strike a balance between the light grassy and grainy character of Riverbend Malt House’s (out of Asheville, NC) southeastern 6-row pilsner malt and classic Northwest American hop character. McKenna explains, “The goal of the beer is to use Cascade as an American ‘noble’ hop, and showcase it the way a European pilsner would showcase local ingredients.” Homestand is available in both draft and can formats, and can be found in Atlanta Brewing Company’s Westside taproom or anywhere great craft beer is sold.
