This morning we have the latest packaging for Meltdown from Sixpoint Brewery. This imperial IPA is brewed with Mandarina Bavaria and Mosaic hops. The beer will hit 7.3%-AbV & 30 IBU and you’re looking at the 12oz can.
29 Oct 2018 update from Sixpoint:
Finally, a MELTDOWN that isn’t global. We’re talking about what’s going on in the hop cone—tons of Mosaic and Mandarina hops heated until the solid lupulin sap is diffused into solution. As that liquid sap dissolves it gets more intense, but you can’t even see it happen. It changes states of matter to change your state of mind. Finally, you reach saturation and haze starts to show. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you… that’s seriously pure hop juice oozing out of the can. Enough to melt your face!
The latest is our network-wide rotational IPA series is a lush, hazy, juicy IIPA with ripe tropical and bright citrus characteristics, and a soft, easy finish. We went a little crazy with almost five pounds per barrel of hops in this one.
Lab Notes:
Mosaic provides a lush, ripe tropical aroma/flavor, along with some complexity often described as blueberry. Mandarina gives the beer this unmistakable, bright orange zest aroma. Both hops (when used in these huge quantities!) layer in a dank pungency as well. This is the most hops we’ve ever used in a full-network release!
MELTDOWN is available across our entire network in both package and draft. Find it using our beerfinder in the app.
“In 2018 we've put a tremendous effort into innovation, creating over 35 new brands this year out of our home base in Brooklyn. These beers have spanned a broad range of styles including sours, strong porters, barrel-aged goses, and New England IPAs, with the goal of pushing boundaries and creating new flavor experiences. We scaled the techniques we’ve developed through our small batch beers to create MELTDOWN, the second in a line of rotating IPAs released network-wide this past week.
Meltdown is a double New England IPA generously dry-hopped with 4 lbs per bbl of Mosaic and Mandarina hops, and bursting in aromatics and flavor. We've spent the better part of the past year working towards scaling our formulations to achieve national distribution with a New England Style IPA true to the roots of the style—an absolute citrus juice bomb that’s available coast-to-coast. It took some serious effort to scale it for our entire network without sacrificing any of the integrity of the beer in the process. I'm incredibly proud of the result and am excited to share this beer with you.”
