“This has been a fun project, many months in the making,” said Evan Rouse, Braxton Brewing Company Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer. “Most beer drinkers associate barrel aged beers with the winter months. Our team wanted to create something that was light, refreshing and a perfect summer sipper while exploring our barrel aging techniques. You’re going to love the results!”

Starting with an imperial-style gose, this special project made its way to freshly dumped Chardonnay barrels, where it picked up secondary flavors of white wine, vanilla, and melon. Lastly, an addition of hibiscus brought fresh berry notes and a lovely pink hue. The imperial gose checks in at 7.3% ABV.

Open since May of 2017, Braxton Labs is Braxton Brewing Company’s second brewing facility. The Covington-based company uses the Newport brewery and taproom as its place to experiment and innovate. This is the first Chardonnay Barrel Aged beer that Braxton Labs or Braxton Brewing Company has released.

“Braxton Labs allows us to experiment with new styles, ingredients and techniques,” said Zac Boehnke, Braxton Brewing Company Lead Innovation Brewer. “The Imperial Gose brings together an exciting style, with an amazing barrel and some special ingredients!”
