Our legion of BrewDog Equity Punks are front and centre in everything we do – and that definitely applies to the beers we create. They get first dibs on all of them, being able to taste the newest releases first, before anyone else. Recently we introduced a series of ten epic collaborations with breweries from across Europe, for our Equity Punks and customers there – and the latest one is launching today for our shareholders.
SOS (May Day) – BrewDog vs BRLO
After unleashing four totally unique beers into the wild, we’re back with instalment number five. This time we’ve joined forces with them mighty BRLO from Berlin for a BrewDog first! We’ve worked together to conjure up a recipe which fuses Germany’s prestigious beer heritage with our love for hops. The resultant brew is a dry-hopped Maibock we’re calling SOS (May Day).
Our first ever Maibock clocks in at 6.4%. Unlike the traditional Bock beer, the Maibock is lighter in appearance with noticeable alcohol levels and a significant hop character, which we’ve obviously dialled up and then some. Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Mandarina Bavaria, a duo of legendary German hops, take centre stage during the dry-hopping, with an added dose of tropical fruit thanks a helping of Motueka.
Spearheaded by Katharina, Christian and Michael, BRLO focus on small-batch beers, brewing in the heart of Gleisdreieck, Berlin. Their sprawling BRWHOUSE also houses an amazing restaurant where contemporary gastronomy runs wild, with a passionate focus on food and beer pairings. In the bar you’ll find 20 rotating taps and outside sits one of the most striking beer gardens you’ve ever laid eyes on. This all sits in (and on) 38 renovated shipping containers. So when we were racking our brains thinking which German brewery we’d like to make a beer with, the team from BRLO were top of our list.
So that’s four down and six to go. Over the next few months we’re going to be welcoming even more talented brewers to our Ellon site to create some more small-batch beers:

SOS (May Day) is live in our online shop right now, exclusive to our Equity Punks today – it will then go on general sale tomorrow, 17th May. As with all of our international collaborations, this beer was brewed in extremely limited quantities, so once it’s gone it’s gone!
We love the fact that beer-fans from all corners of Europe have joined our community and invested in Equity for Punks V – it proves that when it comes to craft beer borders mean nothing with everyone sharing the same passion.
