Dogfish Head to Celebrate Record Store Day with a Line-up of Off-Centered Events

Dogfish Head to Celebrate Record Store Day with a Line-up of Off-Centered EventsFrom Dogfish Head:

Milton, DE ., April 4, 2018 – Music has always been a part of Dogfish Head so it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day – an annual celebration of the unique culture of independently owned record stores and the roles they play in their communities. This year Dogfish Head is kicking its Record Store Day celebration up a notch with a collection of events held on Saturday, April 21, at the Milton Brewery Tasting Room, Brewings & Eats, Chesapeake & Maine and the Dogfish Inn.

For its 2018 music partnership, Dogfish Head joined forces with American rock icons, The Flaming Lips to bring together independent beer and independent music with the release of a first-of-its-kind beer and vinyl collaboration. Dropping on Record Store Day (Saturday, April 21), the Flaming Lips will release a limited-edition 7” called “The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon,” featuring two original songs inspired by the new Dogfish beer, Dragons & YumYums, a lip smackingly tart pale ale. Composed by Wayne Coyne, frontman for The Flaming Lips, the lyrics pay tribute to the colorful array of rare ingredients in the beer - dragonfruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot juice.

With the help of a vinyl producer in London, Dogfish Head and The Flaming Lips also created 100 Dragons & YumYums beer-filled copies of “The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon.” Super-exclusive and highly collectible, these records are not available for purchase but can be found at Dogfish events across the country. On Record Store Day, Dogfish Head will give away two beer-filled records – one in the Tasting Room at its Milton brewery and one at Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach.

Dogfish Head Record Store Day Events by Location

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton
Dogfish Head will kick off its Record Store Day festivities in the Tasting Room on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. with a 200 (750ml) bottle release of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout. Available while supplies last, bottles are priced at $30 each and will be sold on a first come, first served basis – limited to two bottles per person.  The beer will also be on tap in the Tasting Room while supplies last.

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout enhances the flavors and adds to the complexity of Dogfish Head fan favorite, World Wide Stout. After being aged in an oak tank with Madagascar vanilla beans for one month, the brew is transferred into empty bourbon barrels where it’s aged for an additional three months. Clocking in at 18.4% ABV, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout is smooth with velvety notes of toasted vanilla and roasted malt, and is the perfect brew to lie down and age.

Folks are encouraged to stick around after the bottle release for even more Record Store Day merriment. DJs will be spinning tunes all day and there’ll be a ton of awesome Record Store Day-themed giveaways, including:
