We brought you a peek at this beer back in April, and now we have exciting news from Widmer Brothers:
September 6, 2017– Widmer Brothers Brewing today announced the release of Hefe Twisted Citrus, a refreshing and juicy new version of America’s Original Hefeweizen that will be available in bottles and on draft across the Pacific Northwest.
Hefe Twisted Citrus pays homage to the brewery’s flagship beer, Hefe, introduced by brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer over 30 years ago. Hefe Twisted Citrus features the signature hazy appearance and flavors of the Widmer Brothers classic, but is brewed with blood orange, and a mix of grapefruit, orange and tangerine peel. Twisted Citrus packs a juicy punch, hopped with citrus-forward Mandarina Bavaria and Lemon Drop hops. Hefe Twisted Citrus was crafted for any occasion, and at 5.1 percent ABV, it is a ripe go-to beer.
“Hefe is a classic we know Oregonians love,” said Widmer Brothers Brewmaster Thomas Bleigh. “After releasing Hefe Hopfruit and Hefe Berry Lime earlier this year, we set out to brew this version of Hefe with an updated citrus-heavy twist. With the addition of blood orange, grapefruit and citrus peels, we’ve hit on a bold flavor combination that beer drinkers have really been enjoying in our pub.”
To celebrate the arrival of Twisted Citrus, Widmer Brothers will host a launch party at the Widmer Brothers Beer Garden (across the street from its iconic Russell St. Pub) on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 12pm-10pm. In addition to Hefe Twisted Citrus on tap, the launch party will also feature Twisted Citrus Slushies and Blood Orange Radlers.----
This new addition to Widmer Brothers’ seasonal line-up will be available in the Pacific Northwest on draught, and in six-packs. Hefe Twisted Citrus can be found using the Widmer Brothers beer finder at widmerbrothers.com/find-beer.
