We brought you an early peek at this beer, and now the release details from Saint Arnold:
Here at Saint Arnold, our brewers are always brewing. Perhaps that's obvious, but it's not always one of our regular beers they're brewing - you'll often find them crafting a test batch of a recipe they're developing. These beers span a range of styles and often feature new or experimental ingredients.
Last year's Icon Green - 7220 Pale Ale used a hop so new it didn't yet have a name. Just a number. We wanted to maintain the same experimental mindset with this year's Icon Green, an IPA featuring a hop we've never before used. It has a name - El Dorado.
Icon Green - El Dorado IPA is a red IPA showcasing the El Dorado hop. Its flavor is front and center with notes of watermelon, pear and stone fruit. Two other new-age hops - Citra and Galaxy - were also used, boosting the juicy, tropical fruit flavor and aroma even more.
The malt bill gives this beer its red color and balances the hop profile with a toasted bread character and a bit of sweetness. This beer comes in at 6.0% ABV and 88 IBU.
Icon Green - El Dorado IPA will be available on tap in bars and restaurants as well as in six packs of 12 oz bottles at grocery and liquor stores. It'll begin to hit the Austin area next week.
