Coming Soon - The BrewDog Book

Even though we are not ones for mission statements here at BrewDog, we do have a mantra of sorts. You’ve probably heard us talk about our goal of ‘making other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are’. And we are very passionate indeed – you only need to cross the threshold of one of our bars to pick up on that – so we have decided to go a step further and give you something to actually pick up to get more of an idea of the majesty of craft beer.

We have put pen to paper on the ultimate beer bible – the BrewDog book is coming soon.

Craft Beer for the People is about bringing down the walls and spreading the word at the same time. We have partnered with the amazing guys at Octopus Publishing and produced a beer book like no other and one that will have something for everybody interested in the subject, whether craft beer veteran or virgin. For one thing, it is not going to be a book you will read and then leave on a shelf gathering dust for a decade – because it will be fully customisable.

We want this book to be something you’ll read on the sofa, take with you in the kitchen and carry to bars to consult, annotate and spill beer on. Craft beer is breaking through into the mainstream because of the experimentation and individuality of the men and women who create it – so Craft Beer for the People will reflect this. Stamp your personality on it with tasting sheets to complete, I-Spy games for bar visits and even a chance to design your own personal beer mat.

The book will cover our philosophy and history but also the wider craft beer community as a whole and will have a detailed section on how to homebrew, featuring ten of our printed recipes from DIY Dog and the same number of specific homebrew recipes from craft breweries we truly admire – many of which have never been published or even released before. Whether you’ve homebrewed for years or never tried it, this will be your new go-to guide.

We are also majoring on another kind of recipe – those related to beer and food. Pairing craft beer with your next mealtime is something that is becoming fundamental to us here at BrewDog – beer has such a weight of variety behind it, making it the ultimate match for any type of cuisine out there. So we have included two dozen recipes with beer as an ingredient and a pairing for the next time you head into the kitchen – just bring the book with you!

Craft Beer for the People will also feature a unique look at beer styles – no boring list from A-Z but instead a series of progressions for people to work their way through, with jumping off points from lager to sours. Each pathway exists to get you thinking about your next beer and how its aromas, flavours and history relate to the one you had before!

We are currently dialling in the final look of Craft Beer for the People, and then it will head to print. Both engaging and informative, we can’t wait for it to hit the shelves (both all good bookshops and virtual). We love beer books – in a world where everything is online, on-demand they have a physicality and an intimacy found nowhere else.
