The decision comes as Charlotte’s largest brewer inches closer to producing 25,000 barrels of beer this year. At that point, N.C law requires breweries to hand distribution over to a third-party.
Olde Mecklenburg remains vocal in its opposition to the self-distribution law. The brewery has made the decision not to exceed the 24,999 threshold.
“In order not to underserve Charlotte — our home market — we are preemptively pulling out of the Triad,” says John Marrino, founder.
