From Angel City:
Los Angeles, CA (July 23, 2015) — Glamour and grit, art and commerce, desert and sea, freeways and freedom: all ingredients that make up the great city of Los Angeles. So, it should be simple to turn that into a complex beer, right? Well… Angel City Brewery is challenging the beer-loving citizens of Los Angeles to create a beer for the City of Angels. So, What Would You Brew?
WWYB 1 and 2 culled creative responses from across the Southland with contributors submitting hundreds of incredible recipes and stories. 2013’s top entry was a sweet and spicy Mexican Cola Beer from home brewer Emily Finch, and 2014’s winning entry was the intricate Desert Dreams by Lori Newman.
This year, the brewery expects similarly clever, creative and kooky ideas for beer flavors with its third annual ‘What Would You Brew’ contest. The winner, chosen in October 2015, will have the opportunity to spend a day in the brew house brewing alongside the Angel City team, have their beer featured during LA Beer Week 2016, and receive a custom kegerator, complete with a case of pint glasses, tap handle and tin tacker sign. Ideas can be submitted here: http://angelcitybrewery.com/wwyb/. Entries will be accepted through September 30, 2015.
"What Would You Brew has been such a fun and challenging way to give the community a closer look and deeper appreciation for the art of brewing,” said Layton Cutler, brewer at Angel City Brewery. “The response has been fantastic, with really creative and complex entries. Bringing the winners into the brewery to actually make their dream beer come to life is really rewarding – for us and them.”
Angel City Brewery brews beer for the greater LA area at their Downtown based brewery in the Arts District. The brewery features a 19-tap bar and serves an ever-changing roster of newly inspired beer and classic fan favorites, including Angel City IPA, Angel City Pilsner and Angel City West Coast Wheat. The bar is open seven days a week with a full calendar of events ranging from trivia nights to art shows, live music and festivals. Private event space is also available. The Public House is open Monday-Wednesday, 4:00pm – 10:00pm, Thursday and Friday 4:00pm – 12am, Saturday 12:00pm – 12:00am, and Sunday 12:00pm – 10:00pm. Angel City is also available in 6-packs and on draft at locations throughout Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
