BALTIMORE, MD --- Heavy Seas Beer is proud to announce a partnership with Uptown
Bakers, a large commercial bakery that creates high-end artisan breads for Delaware,
Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. Heavy Seas Brewer’s Bread, which will include gourmet
hot dog and hamburger beer rolls, will be featured at Giant Food just in time for
Independence Day. These all-natural, whole grain breads are made with spent malt
from the Heavy Seas brewery.
According to Mike McCloud, Owner of Uptown Bakers, “It’s been great working
with Heavy Seas to create the high quality, handmade rolls for the retail market. Heavy
Seas Alehouse Executive Chef, Matt Seeber, and Heavy Seas Beer Founder, Hugh
Sisson, share our vision of producing high quality, handcrafted flavorful products for all
to enjoy.”
Large grocery chains are becoming more aware of the growing craft beer
industry and have learned the value of the products as well as the customer who enjoys
them. That consumer has an educated palate that tends to buy better quality products
based on taste and flavor. Building on the success of this trend, Heavy Seas is proud to
have Giant as the first store to release the Brewer’s Bread series. 
According to Heavy Seas Founder, Hugh Sisson, “Our Brewer’s Bread artisan
rolls are hand crafted and baked with malted barley used in the process of brewing
Heavy Seas beer. They call beer ‘liquid bread.’ We would like to present to you ‘edible
beer.’ Enjoy!”
The beer bread packaging will feature the Heavy Seas logo and familiar purple
color in its branding. Beautiful commercial display shippers have also been created to
showcase this unique story for the test launch. As a part of this test, the beer bread
displays will be placed in different departments in each Giant store to see where they
best fit. For example, one might find the product in the bread isle, the beer isle, or in
front of the meat department.
According to Cipriano Andrade, Director of Bakery and Deli at Giant Food
Landover, “We're thrilled to be the first grocery store to bring these delicious all natural
artisan rolls made with spent grains from Heavy Seas, a local craft brewery. The new
freshly baked all natural offerings include hot dog buns (6ct.), hamburger buns (6ct.),
and slider buns (12ct.). The rolls will be available in ten Giant stores.”
