Stony Creek Brewery has broken ground for construction of a new craft brewery, to be located on the waterfront in Branford, CT at 5 Indian Neck Avenue.
“Aggressively laidback beer is coming to Branford,” says Edward M. Crowley, one of the owners of Stony Creek Brewery. The company has been brewing elsewhere in Connecticut since its launch in 2012, and is planning to open the new facility by the winter of this year.
Stony Creek brews (203), (860) and (401) India Pale Ales, along with its (203) Stony Creek Lager. The beers are available throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.
The new structure will house more than just a brewery. At nearly 30,000 square feet, it will feature two outdoor decks, a tasting room and a celebration room, all designed by Branford architect, Joe Sepot. The property is located on the Branford River.
“In keeping with our commitment to be local,” says Crowley, “One of our goals has been to have the brewery built by as many Branford businesses as possible. From the architectural work, to engineering, structural, legal and contracting, we have supported our hometown.”
Plans are in place to expand Stony Creek’s beer lineup to include diverse offerings, including seasonals and limited release collaborations. All offered in draft, bottles and cans. The brews will be on tap for purchase by the pint at the Brewery’s tasting room and deck, as well as in growlers (64-ounce jugs) to carry out. Food will not be served by the brewery, but Stony Creek will work in cooperation with area restaurants for delivery of food, which customers may enjoy on the deck or in the tasting room. Guests are also welcome to bring a picnic. Stony Creek Brewery tours along with merchandise, including hats, shirts and all the knick-knacks, will be available for purchase.
A 2,400 square foot celebration room on the second floor will entertain parties and gatherings. The room opens onto a 1,400 square foot deck. A full calendar of events is planned. And for the carefree, there will be Bocce Ball courts and Corn Hole on the grounds.
“We're grateful for those who believe in beer and in our mission to bring a great beer experience to Branford and to the regions beyond," says Crowley. "The retailers, the folks at the bars and restaurants, our distributors and our friends and families – all have helped us put these shovels into the ground to build a first-rate brewery.”
