CHICAGO, May 7, 2014 "It's all about the Beer!" That's the motto at Third Street Brewhouse which has launched three of its craft beers in cans. Three Way Pale Ale, Lost Trout Brown Ale and Hunny Do Wheat Beer are available now in Rexam 16 oz. cans.
Three Way Pale Ale is a combination of unique hops and three select malts resulting in a moderate fruitiness with hints of grapefruit, pear and subtle spice. Lost Trout is an American-Style brown ale with a roasted, caramel and chocolate malt taste, and Hunny Do is a refreshing wheat beer with a crisp and subtly-sweet honey dew melon flavor.
"We decided to can our craft beers because canning is our craft," said Doug DeGeest, vice president and general manager, Third Street Brewhouse. "Some of the best beers are in cans, and with our state-of-the-art canning facility, new brew house, and talented brewing staff, we are uniquely positioned to put our quality beers in a container that provides the best portability option. Our partnership with Rexam has exceeded our expectations, delivering the perfect package to help us expand our business and build our brand."
Third Street Brewhouse also benefits from the many additional advantages cans bring to beer including durability, complete protection from light that helps preserve freshness and beverage integrity, as well as infinite recyclability. Cans are the most sustainable beverage package in the world, as they are recycled at more than double the rate of any other beverage package.
Rich Grimley, president and CEO, Rexam BCNA, commented on Third Street's decision to use cans. "Beverage cans are an ideal choice to bring these unique beers to consumers," he said. "They enable the brand to attract attention on store shelves with colorful, reflective graphics while also ensuring desired taste profiles with superior barrier protection. Cans also deliver the best in environmental considerations with the highest recycle rate, while helping build businesses with excellent filling, distribution and retail display economics."
Third Street Brewhouse beers in cans are currently available at select retailers in Minnesota, with plans for continued expansion.
