Details from the Chicago Tribune:
Months after launching its new South Side brewery, the co-founders of 5 Rabbit are embroiled in a civil lawsuit alleging theft of company money, infidelity and internal attempts to take over the company.
Co-founder Andres Araya filed suit against fellow co-founder Isaac Showaki Monday, claiming defamation as a result of Showaki's "campaign to tarnish and besmirch Araya's reputation in an effort to acquire control of the company."
According to the lawsuit, Showaki told minority investor Randy Mosher that Araya had stolen $25,000 from the company for personal use, and that Araya had had an extramarital affair with a female employee.
Araya alleges in the suit that Showaki had become "increasingly obsessed with his perceived lack of power and influence at the company" beginning in late October.
Araya is seeking damages in excess of $100,000.
