Woodchuck Out On a Limb Hot Cha Cha Cha - A First Sampling

imageWe brought you the news of this cider a few days ago, so I was excited to see a sample arrive at at mybeerbuzz headquarters this week.  We’ve been sampling Woodchuck cider from the very beginning, so getting an early peek at their latest Out On a Limb series release is a lot of fun.

Out on a Limb is a rotating 6-pack series of ciders that push the envelope of traditional ciders.  Woodchuck has featured lemon cider, chamomile cider, cherry cider and even chocolate raspberry cider, so it should be no surprise that this one features hot peppers!

This is the sixth release in the series, and I dare to say one of the more unusual flavors to add to a cider.  Hot Cha Cha Cha uses Bird’s Eye chili peppers and and it is really an interesting combination.  While the aroma and up front tastes are still dominated by apple, the finish is quite spicy.  I’m not talking "knock-your-socks-off” peppers, but you definitely know there is some heat on board.  The combination of tart apple with chili spice at the end works really well.  The spicy pepper cleans up the semi-sweet apple flavors and the apple flavors of your next sip cool down the heat.  It works well.

All in all I think this is a really fun and unique cider and one you should certainly try.  Woodchuck Hot Cha Cha Cha was released on Nov 1st and it will come in at 5.5%-AbV.  Be sure to try it, and as always, be sure to let me know what YOU think.
