From Foothills Brewing:
Just fifteen months after moving to our new brewing facility, Foothills has just installed four 200-barrel fermentation vessels that will enable us to brew 40,000 barrels annually-- a production increase of 72%.
It's kind of a big deal. Why? Because, in two weeks, we installed brewing capacity equal to the entire first-year production of Foothills - 800 barrels.
This big.
So big we had to hire a stuntman to take this picture.
Twenty-three feet tall, to be exact.
What does this mean for you?
Glad you asked. If you're in NC, SC, VA, or TN, it means increased availability at all your favorite restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and package stores. If you're in Winston-Salem, it means room for more experimental beers at the pub. And if you're in western NC, it means you should read this article from Mountain Xpress.
A collaboration. Celebrating collaboration.
May 9 will mark the centennial of the union between Winston and Salem. The city came to us and asked if we'd help them celebrate, and naturally, we were thrilled to say yes.
In that spirit, we are pleased to announce the arrival of Hundred Foot, an easy-drinking American Cream Ale brewed with (of course) Centennial hops.
The Hundred Foot will be available at the pub, at most of the city's official Centennial events, and in 22-oz. bottles at select retail establishments. On Friday, May 10, join us at the Blue Moon Gallery Hop on Trade Street for a community Centennial toast. On Saturday, May 11, there will be a scavenger hunt all over downtown and Hundred Foot will be available at Civic Plaza and Corpening Plaza. Visit ws100years.com for a full list of Centennial events.
(Also of interest: Winston-Salem Monthly's Centennial article 100 Things We Love. We're glad we made the list!)
Our brewmaster Jamie Bartholomaus presented Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines with Bottle #1 of Hundred Foot at City Hall. It's signed and everything! We watched the mayor put it next to his Hank Aaron-signed baseball. Cool.
And speaking of collaboration...
Foothills brewmaster Jamie Bartholomaus and head brewer T.L. Adkisson spent a day recently in Asheville at Wicked Weed Brewing, collaborating on an offering for Asheville Beer Week.
We’re kind of keeping it a secret until we get closer to the release date, but we can tell you it will have elements of Foothills Sexual Chocolate, as well as Wicked Weed’s Freak DIPA. Let your imaginations run wild.
