Ground Breaker Brewing Launches Direct-to-Consumer Sales in Six US States & Territories

From Ground Breaker:

Ground Breaker Brewing, the Portland, Oregon-based gluten-free craft brewery, is launching direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales in six US states and territories. Gluten-free beer drinkers in Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Washington, DC will be able to order through the Ground Breaker website and have products shipped directly to their doorstep via UPS for a flat shipping fee.

Ground Breaker will employ age verification on their online store, and customers will need to sign for their beer delivery to ensure sales are made to individuals 21 or older. The brewery will require a one-case minimum, with customers able to mix and match 4-packs of various styles.

All of the brewery’s year-round beers will be available for purchase, including their flagship IPA No. 5, which won the Silver Medal and a Silver award in the Gluten-Free Beer categories at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival® and the 2018 World Beer Cup®. Inclusion Dry-Hopped Pale Ale, winner of the Bronze Medal in the Gluten-Free Category at the 2012 GABF®, and Dark Ale, which won three Gold Medals in the Gluten-Free Category at GABF® in 2014, 2016, and 2017. Ground Breaker is also offering their newest year-round beers, 99 Light, a low-calorie light American lager, and Olallie Light, a low-calorie blackberry fruit ale.

The people behind these gluten-free libations at Ground Breaker are most excited to offer their seasonal and special release beers to online shoppers in these states. “Our latest beers, Love Your Body Mexican Lager and Czechia Later Bohemian Pilsner, have been so well received,” said Head Brewer and Social Media Maestro Gloria Zeiger. “I never like having to tell someone who messages us on Instagram that they can’t get our latest seasonal in the state they live in. I’m so excited to offer these beers to more people.”

Selling beer directly to consumers is still relatively rare in the craft beer market in the United States. Ground Breaker has been working towards launching DTC sales for over a year.

“Only nine US states and territories allow out-of-state breweries to ship directly to customers. We are happy to launch our DTC service in six of those nine,” said Ground Breaker Head of Operations Jesse Bufton. “We would ship beer to all fifty, but states have been very slow in adopting this model, even post-pandemic.”

Customers that order through the Ground Breaker website can use the code DTC15 to get 15% off their first order through the end of April.
