And if you give us a moment, we’d like to tell you why we’re so excited for this Thursday.
The idea behind the name “Fetish Brewing Company” wasn’t actually what you think..
The idea behind the name was that all three of us are obsessive weirdos. The idea behind the name was that we are inveterate Collectors of Stuff, that we think we are right and everyone else is wrong, that details matter, that – you know – we fetishize the details. Record collections, comic books, cars that don’t work, piles of wood in the basement that one day may become something but/also may never. zzubreebym
And the idea was that we were going to apply that same energy to our products. That we would make hyper-specific beer – hyper-specific beer with unusual ingredients –- and just put them out there.
Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn’t (See: “Worst Beer We Ever Made” on untappd)(although we all might argue that that was actually our favorite beer)(even though we thought it was terrible and we had to argue with everyone because it kept getting untapped reviews that were like, “This really isn’t so bad?” and we’d be all/like: “Give it a zero or we’re kicking you out.”.
And: by the way, we did obsess over a lot.
Like, for example, we built our 30 foot long bar by hand. And most of the brewery itself. And: most of Ice Avenue before that. And: we argued over pumpkin beer. And: we argued about records. And fonts. And IPAs. And what the asterisk looks like (because it still doesn’t look right).. And David Foster Wallace. And which Fugazi record is the right one. And How many ghost peppers to use. And colors of gray.
We argued about, like, everything.
But now, we’re focused only on the beer.
And/so: six months ago we stopped brewing.
We had a lot to look at and rethink. And in those six months, we’ve re-thought pretty much everything about Fetish: our team, our processes, our products, the way we function, even The Total Number of Air Fryers We Own (which has grown by 100%).
About 8 weeks ago, we brewed for the very first time. This first beer was made by Mike Fegely, who has been watching over pretty literally every step of the reboot.
And: we’ve brewed another 3 new beers, too.
This Thursday April 10th at 3:00pm we’re starting a new era at Fetish by introducing Field Day (click here to hear Mike talk about it).
And then: one at at time we’ll begin to roll-out new beers.
And we’re still going to argue about everything. And we still think your music collection is awful. And we still don’t like anything that the kids like.
And/so, come on up. Become part of the second chapter. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with you.
And/also: we promise not to do anything until we’re sure do it right.
We hope to see you Thursday, and if not, we hope to see you up at Rock Lititz Soon.
-FBC.
