The 2025 edition of Barrel-Aged Darkness goes deep into the woods.
Every year, we age our beloved imperial stout and release it the following spring. This year, the barrels in question are Elijah Craig bourbon barrels, which impart flavor and aromatics from the oak and the previous occupant to the receptive Darkness base.
But that’s not all! We took an extra step by also maturing it on French Oak from our friends at Creative Oak. They supplied the wood for our fantastic Darkness Day 2024 collab with Revolution Brewing, and we’re thrilled to work with them again.
The final product is full-bodied with substantial chocolate, brown sugar, and molasses notes, along with abundant woody oak character.
It’s now available on draft and in boxed 16-oz. cans, and while it’s worth cellaring, drinking it right away is understandable and encouraged.
