300 Years in the Making
Oktoberfest season is here and it doesn't get more authentic than our new collaboration this year with Brauerei Gutmann, an iconic German brewer that, like us, is family owned. But they've been brewing since 1707!
Gutmann brings six generations and 300 years of brewing experience to our smooth and balanced Oktoberfest. The recipe includes wheat malt in honor of Gutmann who is renowned for wheat classics like their Hefeweizen.
"This is a Festbier with a twist," says Brian Grossman, Chief Brewer at Sierra Nevada. "The wheat malt gives us really nice sweetness in the aroma, followed by a little bit of lemon characteristic from the Saphir hops and a nice dry, crisp finish on it."
It's only around for a limited time, so don't miss your chance to order Oktoberfest for local delivery or spot it with our Brew Finder.
Scott Jennings of Sierra Nevada, Michael Gutmann of Brauerei Gutmann, and Brian Grossman of Sierra Nevada.
"It's got perfect balance to me."
A Scott Jennings review is one to trust: he's spent 23 years at Sierra Nevada.
Scott is our Technical Brewmaster, and he helped create this year's collaboration Oktoberfest with our partner Brauerei Gutmann — founded in 1707 and family owned for six generations.
"We tried to add signatures from both breweries, both families into the beer," says Scott, and since Gutmann is famed for hefeweizens, "we've got wheat malt in honor of our partners, which brings a creamy mouthfeel."
Despite our reputation, "don't expect a really aggressive hop character," says Scott. "It's a balance. The hop character has some lemon, a little bit of mandarin, and herbal [notes]."
It all comes together in a smooth and bright Festbier that's suited for September — when beer's biggest party starts in Germany!
If you haven't tried Oktoberfest yet, the clock is ticking on this limited release. Order now for local delivery or track it down with our Brew Finder.
