From Dogfish Head:
Did you know that if you live or vacation in a coastal Delaware town south of Rt. 9, that you’re likely in the Inland Bays Watershed? That means that everything that you do on land drains into the bays and out to the Atlantic Ocean, to areas where you likely fish, crab, swim, boat, surf, kayak, & more! We fully believe in keeping our house clean, and that’s why, throughout September, we’re partnering with the DE Center for the Inland Bays for all things Beer & Benevolence!
The DE Center for Inland Bays is a local non-profit under the EPA’s National Estuary Program (NEP) whose mission is to preserve, protect and restore Delaware’s Inland Bays and their watershed. They achieve this through education programs, outreach, science & research, restoration, and public policy.
We’re so excited to be partnering with this amazing organization in September, although this partnership is nothing new. In the past, we’ve worked with the DE Center for the Inland Bays many times, from donating used oyster shells for the Don’t Chuck Your Shucks program, to previous Dogfish Dashes, benevolence nights and more!
But this September is jam packed with all things Inland Bays! Here’s a look at every single way you can support the bays by benefitting the DE Center for the Inland Bays this month at Dogfish Head:
DOGFISH DASH
What’s better than running for the bays with a few cold ones to follow it up?? Join us on September 24, 2023 at our Milton brewery for this year’s Dogfish Dash! This 3.81-mile (give or take) race through Milton starts and ends at our Milton brewery & benefits the DE Center for the Inland Bays. Registration is now open & registered Dashers will receive some sweet runner goodies that include a runner t-shirt (size not guaranteed for dashers who registered after July 8) and a reusable pint glass; PLUS, a post-run party with live music and activities from this year's beneficiary. Dashers will receive two beverage tickets (21+ only) and some tasty post-run grub!
We will continue the tradition of the "Recycled Costume Contest", so if you create an outfit crafted from recycled stuff, you'll be entered to win some sweet prizes. This year will feature some incredible prizes for the group with the best recycled costumes along with best dressed gal and best dressed dude!
DOGFISH DASH PACKET-PICK UP
For this year’s race, there will be no day of packet pick-up! That means you’ll need to snag your race packets at one of the two packet pick-up events below, prior to the race. For both events, DE Center for the Inland Bays will be on-site & a portion of proceeds from each day will be donated to the non-profit!
-
Wednesday, September 20th in Rehoboth at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. This is also the second Benevolence Night of the month, and 10% of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to DE Center for the Inland Bays!

The non-profit will also be on-site for both nights, so you can hang out with their awesome team and learn more about their work protecting and preserving the bays!

Wednesday, September 20 from 4 – 11 p.m. You can also grab your Dogfish Dash race packet during this Benevolence Night, from 4 – 8 p.m.!
MILTON BREWERY TIP DONATIONS
Come visit us at the Milton brewery to help support the Inland Bays! All month-long, tips at the Milton brewery will be donated to the DE Center for Inland Bays, which is just one more way that you can eat / drink for the bays with us!
DE Center for the Inland Bays will be on-site on Saturday, September 23 for Dogfish Dash packet pick-up from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., so you can raise a pint with them & learn about the inland bays and how they aim to protect & preserve them!
SLURP SOME OYSTERS
Every time you eat an oyster at Chesapeake & Maine, you’re supporting the DE Center for the Inland Bays! All spent oyster shells from Chesapeake & Maine get donated to their Don’t Chuck Your Shucks Program, where the shell is recycled to be used in local habitat restoration projects such as living shorelines.
So, whether you’re running for the bays, drinking for the bays, or eating for the bays, we hope you’ll join us at some point throughout the month of September to give back to our friends at the DE Center for the Inland Bays so we can help protect and preserve the water and land around us.
