Today I have an exciting new “axe” coming from Surly Brewing in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center, MN.
This is Mango Axe Man IPA and it will remain an IPA brewed with mango that will swing in at 7.2%-AbV. This is the new 16oz can and stay tuned for release details. I’ve also added in the latest packaging for Furious IPA (6.7%-AbV, 12oz cans) zzubreebym
This 6 Dec 2023 update from Surly:
Introducing Mango Axe Man, now available in cans for the first time ever. Mango Axe Man can be found in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans and in kegs December-January. It’s available to all Surly markets in the Midwest and Upper Midwest.
The cold, bleak dead of winter is a challenge. The daylight vanishes, the weather hammers away, the cousins who live in Sarasota post pictures of sunsets on Facebook in a textbook case of cyberbullying. There isn’t a SAD lamp in existence that can counteract this. What can a brewery do to help?
Simple. Take one of your most beloved IPAs, charge it with an ample mango addition, and send it out to the world like a ray of sunshine cutting through the endless grey.
Introducing Mango Axe Man, now available in cans for the first time ever.
Axe Man comes to the party with a pronounced tropical fruit, berry, and citrus profile from Citra and Mosaic dry-hopping. Mango plays very well in this space, amplifying that character for a super juicy, tropical swing of the Axe.
We’ve kegged small batches of this over the years to much acclaim, along with the understandable “When are you making it again/Are you ever going to can it” questions. Here you go. Happy holidays.
