For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a fan of all things Oskar Blues, and particularly, my favorite Dale’s Pale Ale…and whether it was enjoying one as my go-to-beer on the beach or sitting in the Oskar Blue Pub in Colorado Springs (just a week or two ago), it has always found it’s way into my belly. So naturally I was excited to see the Dale’s lineup of beer expand, and even more excited when they were kind enough to send some my way.
Many moons ago, I interviewed “the” Dale when Dale Katechis joined me on my weekly craft beer radio show, and even though I was already a fan of their beers, enjoying one with Dale himself, made me even more of a fan.
Beginning in July of this year, Oskar Blues expanded the lineup and added Dale’s American Light Lager and Dale’s American Double IPA along side their flagship Dale’s Pale Ale. If that’s not enough good news, Oskar Blues also refreshed the packaging on Dale’s Pale Ale so the three beers now have a nice family resemblance and are easy to find in the beer cooler.
Oskar Blues is now inviting you to “Seize The Dale’s” and as they describe it, “The Seize the Dale’s campaign serves as a call to action for new consumers and loyalists alike to choose Dale’s for all occasions. Furthermore, Dale’s has inked a four-year deal as a sponsor of the Colorado Rapids’ Major League Soccer team as the official craft beer with premium brand placement on signage and products throughout the stadium, including a Dale’s-branded bar and patio. Dale’s will also be featured at high-profile events including the 2023 National Tough Mudder series.”
You know I already love Dale’s Pale Ale, but how do the others taste? Of course I can’t wait to try them all, so off we go…
Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale
Brewery Description: Aroma is malty with strong, dank, piney hops. Very enticing! Flavor is bitter and caramel malty, with a piney citrus hop body shining through. Finishes sweet, tangy and a little dry. Mouthfeel is well carbonated even after the swallow as the carbonic prickle lingers.
ABV: 6.5%-AbV
Style: Pale Ale
Packaging: 12oz cans
Appearance: Bronze
Aroma: Biscuit, citrus & resinous pine
Mouthfeel: Medium & carbonated
Taste: Juicy citrus, biscuit malt and resinous hops
Overall: I don’t even know where to begin with Dale’s Pale Ale. This beer has been one of my favorites since it was first brewed and continues to be a favorite today. The combination of citrus and resinous hops combined with the malty backbone makes for a really satisfying and balanced drinking experience.
Oskar Blues Dale’s American Light Lager
Brewery Description: Aroma is a subtle combination of light and brisk with malt, grain and, mild floral hops. Pours bright and clear. The first sip is crisp with biscuit and a very light honeysuckle character that imparts a unique complexity on a simple backdrop.
ABV: 4.2%-ABV
Style: Light Lager
Packaging: 12oz cans
Appearance: Golden straw
Aroma: Malt, herbal and mild floral
Mouthfeel: Light
Taste: Biscuit malt, floral and honey
Overall: I don’t drink a lot of light lagers, but that may be changing with Dale’s American Light Lager. The crisp clean biscuit flavors make this beer not only easy drinking but also refreshing and enjoyable. The beer is light and at just 95 calories, you can have more than a few.
Oskar Blues Dale’s American Double IPA
Brewery Description: Aroma is Pine, Citrus, Peach, and Melon swirled together and continue into the first sip. Flavors of Fruit and Graham Cracker are in each taste with medium bodied sweetness and balancing bitterness.
ABV: 9%-ABV
Style: Double IPA
Packaging: 12oz cans

Aroma: Stone fruit, citrus, melon and resinous pine

Overall: Take everything you love about Dale’s Pale Ale and double it…and you’ll have Dale’s American Double IPA. This beer has a really nice combination of resinous and citrus pine backed up by dull sweet flavors of stone fruit and melon. Overall I found this beer to be well balanced and slightly boozy (this is a good thing!)
Be sure to Seize The Dale’s and get out there and try Dale’s Pale Ale, Dale’s American Light Lager and Dale’s American Double IPA for yourself…and when you do try them, be sure to let us know what YOU think. zzubreebym
