Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Elysian Hazy ‘96 (Review)

When I first brought you a peek at this beer back in Sept 2022, I knew it was another beer from Elysian Brewing that I had to try. This nostalgic hazy IPA is called Hazy ‘96 and it pays tribute to 1996, the year Elysian opened it’s doors.

The packaging features what looks to be a 1990’s VHS tape, and the beer features some of my favorites in Citra and Idaho 7 hops as well as pale, white wheat, rolled oats and acidulated malt.  Hazy ‘96 hits the sweet spot for AbV for me at 6.1%-AbV as well as a hoppy 40 IBU and it comes 12oz cans as well as kegs. I should also mention how cool the retro label is (love the “Be Kind Unwind”) and how it stands out in a crowded field of hazy IPAs.

Naturally I was excited to get a chance to sample it…so off we go.image

Elysian Brewing Hazy ‘96

ABV:  6.1%
Style:  Hazy IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Bright hazy golden
Aroma:   Citrus & slightly herbal
Mouthfeel:   Medium
Taste:   Fruit-forward with tropical fruits, mango and citrus
Overall:  Hazy ‘96 has a really nice combination of fruit-forward flavors on-board. The beer begins with a punch of mango and tropical fruit that is followed by a bit of pineapple and citrus with and interesting herbal finish. Overall this is a really drinkable and enjoyable hazy IPA with a great mix of fruit flavors.

Elysian Brewing Hazy ‘96 is available now in 12oz cans as well as on draft so get out there and try it for yourself…and when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.   zzubreebym
