I know what you’re thinking, and I WAS the same. When someone says “compression socks” I immediately get a picture of my mother wearing those old-school compression socks with the rubber grippy nubs on the bottom…but I’m here to tell you that times (and compression socks) have changed.
This is where Dr. Motion “steps” in with their new (and fashionable) compression socks. As someone who spends a fair amount of time in activities like running and hiking, I’m well aware of the importance of good socks and the benefits of compression socks. I’m also excited to see that Dr. Motion offers not only fashionable knee-high compression socks but also outdoor compression socks and even sporty ankle compression socks.

Dr. Motion was kind enough to send me a few different socks to try out…and of course I can’t wait to try them out so off we go.The socks arrived on a Saturday, so I decided to start with just wearing the Knee Hi Compression Socks around the house. First off, I should mention that these socks look great. I had the “dot squares” pattern and they are definitely fashionable enough to wear every day to work, so I did. For simple daily use these socks are extremely comfortable and supportive and I was actually surprised at how good they felt. The socks are thin enough to fit into my tightest work shoes, but still warm enough to wear all year round. Overall I found them to be a great combination of comfort and support and they really felt great when I wore them to recover after my daily workout.
Up next I test drove the Compression Ankle Socks and of course their test came in the form of my daily workout. With the weather shifting from warm to cold lately, I was actually able to try these ankle socks out on an outdoor 5-mile run and an indoor treadmill 4-mile run. In both cases the socks were comfortable, breathable and really supportive. I tend to wear highly cushioned running shoes and these shoes can sometimes lack support in favor of cushion. The Dr. Motion socks managed to add that support back, so the workouts felt really good. On both outdoor and indoor runs, these socks had enough breathability to keep my feet dry and just the right amount of cushion and support for a comfortable run. Overall I think I may have found a new running sock favorite in these Ankle Socks from Dr. Motion.
Next up I decided to try out the Outdoor Compression Crew Socks and the Outdoor Compression Heavyweight socks. My test for these socks included two hikes, each over 6-miles. For the winter /snow-covered trail hike, I used the Heavyweight socks and they did really well. These socks have just the right amount of cushioning with the perfect combination of breathability and warmth. My feet stayed warm and dry and I really appreciated the smooth toe, especially on a long wet hike that caused my feet to slide around a lot. As the weather warmed a bit, I took the Outdoor Compression Crew socks on a long hike and they shared many of the positive aspects that the heavyweight socks had. The fit and compression level were spot on, the socks had just the right amount of cushioning and once again the smooth toe felt great. Overall, both of these socks were really good on the trail, and anyone who hikes 6-miles into the woods will tell you just how important good socks like these can be.
Overall I was really pleased with all of the Dr. Motion socks. Every pair I tried were not only comfortable and supportive but also really functional on the trails as well as just sitting at my desk. The socks were really good at wicking moisture, the level of cushioning for walking and workouts was perfect, and the smooth toe seam made them really comfy and blister-free. The socks stayed where I put them without creeping down my leg and the look of each pair made them functional and fashionable. I should also mention that the yarn used in these socks is latex-free, cruelty-free, vegan friendly, durable and of course comfortable against your skin.
Get out there and try Dr. Motion socks for yourself and I know you’ll fall in love with these socks like I did….and when you do try them, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
