If you follow along with the home-version of mybeerbuzz.com, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Elysian Brewing beer and I’ve been so for quite a while. With their latest Dank Dust IPA hitting the streets very soon, I was really excited to get a chance to not only sample the beer early, but also do that sampling live at an event hosted by Elysian founders, Joe Bisacca and Dave Buhler.
Of course this was an early sampling of the new beer so I wanted you all to get an early peek at what you can expect.
Elysian calls the new Dank Dust a “pine-forward” IPA and the beer was inspired by their ever-popular Space Dust (a beer I’ve enjoyed more than a few of). Dank Dust has the familiar sweet hop flavor and low bitterness of Space Dust, but it is amped up even more hitting a bigger 8.2%-AbV and with a more resinous presence. I really loved the juicy grapefruit and sticky mango flavors, but the aromas are the star of the show with this beer. Joe was kind enough to highlight all of the “terpene-work” that went into this beer and from an aromatic standpoint, it really paid off. This beer has some really dank and enticing aromas, followed by some really enjoyable hop flavors making for a wonderful drinking experience.
It’s always fun joining Joe & Dave for these samplings and the cool stories they share about the creation of the beer, the label stories and early days of Elysian Brewing itself are amazing, and even better when shared over a really good pair of beers.
A big “dank”you to Joe, Dave, Aaron, Rachael, Nick and everyone at Elysian for not only the cool event but also the amazing sampling package they were kind enough to send along. To this day Elysian still holds the indoor record for “coolest beer gift box” and I suspect it will be theirs to keep for some time to come.
In the end, I really enjoyed Dank Dust and I think Elysian has another winner of an IPA on their hands. The beer checks a lot of boxes for amazing aromas, resinous and dank flavors; and at 8.2%-AbV it’s actually still very drinkable and enjoyable. The beer is complex and flavorful and I think you will love it as much as I do.
Get out there and try Elysian Dank Dust for yourself, and when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
