Anheuser-Busch, MADD and Uber Partner with Clark County to Bring ‘Decide to Ride’ Campaign to Las Vegas

From Anheuser-Busch:

The campaign - first launched in September 2021 - aims to prevent drunk driving by raising awareness of the critical issue of alcohol-impaired driving and encouraging consumers to plan ahead for a safe ride

February 9, 2022 – Today, the country’s leading brewer, Anheuser-Busch, the nation’s largest drunk driving victim services and advocacy nonprofit, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and ridesharing platform market leader, Uber, announced they are partnering with Clark County, Nevada to help prevent drunk driving across the county, including in Las Vegas.

The public-private partnership will focus on connecting with both county residents and visitors through the ‘Decide to Ride’ campaign, encouraging consumers to do their part to end alcohol-impaired driving by planning ahead for a safe ride. Clark County’s participation was led by the newly created Clark County Office of Traffic Safety, which is working to reduce deaths and injuries on the road through safety improvements and efforts to change unsafe driving behaviors such as speeding and driving under the influence.

“When people choose to drive impaired they put the lives of all our road users at risk, including their own,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. “Thanks to this partnership, southern Nevadans and those visiting our community will have one more way to get home safely. If you drink, don’t drive. Decide to ride.”

“Since my time as Nevada’s Attorney General, I’ve worked to combat drunk driving and improve safety on our roadways, but we can always do more,” said U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. “I am glad to see Clark County’s new Office of Traffic Safety working with Anheuser-Busch, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and Uber to protect Nevadans and end drunk driving. In the Senate, I’m pushing to get new funding out to help road safety. I appreciate this public-private partnership’s innovative efforts, and I encourage all Nevadans to always find a safe ride home.”

“Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Anheuser-Busch, and Uber are bringing a common-sense approach to ending drunk driving through their #DecideToRide campaign,” said U.S. Congresswoman Susie Lee. “I am proud to support #DecideToRide in southern Nevada, especially on Super Bowl weekend. This campaign goes a long way in keeping our community and roads safe, and I applaud this strong partnership.”

Anheuser-Busch, MADD and Uber joined forces in September 2021 as a first-of-its-kind coalition aimed at bringing an end to drunk driving. Through the Decide to Ride campaign, the coalition leverages multiple touchpoints with consumers to raise awareness and provide ridesharing opportunities to prevent drunk driving.

“At Anheuser-Busch, we have a long history of drunk driving prevention and we know we can’t end this critical issue alone. That’s why we teamed up with MADD and Uber last year, and why we are excited to partner with Clark County today,” said Colleen Lucas, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Anheuser-Busch. “Every community faces its own unique challenges and by combining Anheuser-Busch’s unparalleled consumer reach, Uber’s vast network, and MADD’s historic influence with the expertise of our local officials and partners, we can create a tailored solution to make a meaningful impact here in Clark County.”

“MADD’s four decades-long history of advocating for stronger laws, providing supportive services to victims and survivors, educating the public and raising awareness of the consequences of this deadly choice have helped reduce drunk driving deaths by more than 50%, but we know that even one crash, injury or death is too many,” said MADD National President Alex Otte. “Our groundbreaking and innovative partnership with Anheuser-Busch and Uber opens up new opportunities to reach communities like Clark County with the lifesaving message: “If You Drink, Don’t Drive, Decide to Ride.”

Across Clark County, the campaign will come to life through digital creative, print and out-of-home advertising, promotions at tailgates and local events, and signage at retailers and venues – including at Station Casinos properties – sharing a key message for consumers – “If You Drink, Don’t Drive, Decide to Ride”. The partnership will also be providing locally available Uber discounts on Sunday February 13th to help consumers plan ahead for a safe ride to and from gameday celebrations.

“Drunk driving is 100% preventable,” said Javier Correoso, Senior Manager, Public Affairs, Uber. “As recent studies have shown, Uber can help reduce alcohol-impaired traffic fatalities and it is more important than ever to provide people with more options so they can plan ahead, make better choices and avoid impaired driving. We’re proud to partner with Clark County, Commissioner Naft, Anheuser-Busch, and MADD through Decide to Ride to amplify the message that there is no excuse for drinking and driving.”
