From Yuengling:
America's Oldest Brewery’s donates $50,000 to Team RWB to support our nation’s heroes
TAMPA, FL ., November 12, 2020 – In observance of Veterans Day, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery, and Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB), one of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations, convened military veterans and participants across Tampa virtually for “WOD for Warriors.”
Every year, led by Team RWB, hundreds of gyms across the country host “WOD for Warriors,” (Workout of the Day) a functional fitness tribute workout, to raise awareness and funds for Team RWB’s community programs that unite veterans through comradery. This is Team RWB’s third year partnering with Yuengling to hold the event in Tampa.
“As America’s Oldest Brewery, Yuengling is committed to giving back to the communities who have supported us throughout our 191-year history. Supporting our veterans has become one of our highest priorities,” said Jennifer Yuengling, Vice President of Operations and 6th Generation Brewer, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. “Through our Lagers for Heroes program, we have been able to work together with great partners, like Team RWB, to advance programs that positively impact the lives of veterans across the country. We are so honored to be a part of “WOD for Warriors” in Tampa this year and celebrate our partnership with Team RWB for the third year in a row.”
Yuengling also presented a $50,000 donation to Team RWB for their ongoing commitment to creating quality relationships and positive experiences for veterans. Yuengling awarded Team RWB the donation through Lagers for Heroes, a year-round program that enables the brewery to support nonprofits and advance programs that positively impact veterans and their families. At the beginning of November leading up to Veterans Day, Yuengling donated 20% of proceeds from all items purchased from Yuengling’s Heroes Collection to Team RWB.
Through various fitness activities, social gatherings and community service projects, Team RWB aims to create an easier transition and sense of belonging for veterans after military service. Since its partnership, Yuengling’s runs support Team RWB fitness activities not just through member participation, but also funds raised.
“We are thrilled to have Yuengling as a committed partner in supporting the health and wellness of our nation's veterans,” said Mike Erwin, Executive Director of Team RWB. “Events like ‘WOD for Warriors’ and partnerships with companies like Yuengling allow Team RWB to continue challenging veterans and showing them that their best days are ahead of them. Today, we are proud to showcase and honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.”
“WOD for Warriors” is Team RWB’s annual community-driven workout movement on and around Veterans Day at gyms across the country. This event is an opportunity to support and raise donations for America’s veterans, while participating in functional fitness, competing for prizes, and engaging with those in the community. All proceeds from this event go directly to support Team RWB’s mission.
