Offering creations from small batch retailers from around the country
September 4, 2020 - Phoenixville, PA - While continuing to offer their unique eats, craft beers, coffee and non coffee beverages, Steel City has now added in a food pantry. The Pantry highlights small batch woman, couple and family-owned food artisans from around the United States.
The Steel City Pantry is now open 7 days a week through the end of winter 2021, 7am Monday through Friday, 8am on Saturday & Sunday. The Pantry features artisans such as Conebella Farm Cheese, Crisp & Co Pickles, Tait Farm Foods, Stoudt’s Good Wonderful Market Breads and many more, as well as offering vegan, gluten free and dairy free options.
Owner Laura Vernola says: “We saw a real need for locals, especially those within walking distance, to be able to buy eggs, milk, butter, non dairy items and specialty items… So far, Small Batch Organics Granola, Renewal Mill Vegan Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix and Big Spoon Roasters have been our biggest sellers.”
Steel City plans on adding in more items for the upcoming baking season, such as maple syrup, pancake and bread making kits, baking vanilla, flour and sugar.

Steel City Coffeehouse opened in 1997 and is Phoenixville's oldest coffeehouse and only listening room & live music venue. Since its inception, Steel City has gone through many changes (and owners). In 2016, it experienced a rebirth and has maintained its status as the artistic hub within the community under the ownership of Laura Vernola and Ed Simpson. In early 2019, Steel City Coffeehouse became Steel City Coffeehouse and Brewery. Head Brewer, Jeremy Burke (formerly of Tuned Up Brewing) has been focused on creating our signature Steel Mill Stout, as well as two other seasonal brews. Steel City sources locally and supports fellow small businesses.
Steel City Coffeehouse & Brewery is open 7 days a week, currently with limited indoor and outdoor seating, and has complimentary wifi. Steel City offers curbside takeout and delivery though UberEats.
