Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Stone Brewing Soaring Dragon (Review) The Beer Jesus

Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Stone Brewing Soaring Dragon (Review)Just last week I was lucky enough to participate in the screening of a new film coming from Stone Brewing’s Greg Koch & film maker Matt Sweetwood. The film is called The Beer Jesus From America and if chronicles Greg Koch’s journey to build their Berlin, Germany brewery.

Needless to say the end result wasn’t what Stone & Greg were aiming for, but the adventure itself is really interesting and entertaining.  Here is the film’s description:

Willing to risk millions on a dream to become the first American craft brewer to build, own and operate their own brewery in Europe, and also create an international craft brewing destination, Stone Brewing co-founder Greg Koch may have made the biggest mistake of his career!  Against seemingly insurmountable odds, the man who’s been nicknamed “the Beer Jesus from America” pushes on with passion and tenacity to join and help move forward Europe’s newly budding craft brewing scene as a revolutionary alternative to cheap industrial beer. Over four years filmmaker Matt Sweetwood (Beerland) captures this historic birth of an American brewery in Berlin, in a story of culture clashes, broken promises and a bottomless beer glass of unexpected challenges…

The film is available now and I’d encourage you to check it out at:  https://www.beerjesusfilm.com/watch

As part of the fun, Stone was kind enough to send along some beers to enjoy while we screened the movie…and while I’ve reviewed Stone IPA, Tangerine Express & Buenaveza before, this was my first taste of Soaring Dragon Imperial IPA.  The packaging looks great in person and I can’t wait to dive in…so off we go.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Stone Brewing Soaring Dragon (Review)—The Beer Jesus

Stone Brewing Soaring Dragon

ABV:  8%
Style:  Imperial IPA
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Light golden crystal clear
Aroma:   Grapefruit, citrus & earthy herbal hops
Mouthfeel:   Semi-dry
Taste:   A mix of honey, herbal tea flavors, resinous pine, citrus, lemon and grapefruit.
Overall:  Soaring Dragon is a really interesting and complex imperial IPA. The white tea plays nicely with the grapefruit and grassy hops and the overall citrus and herbal mix is slightly dry and really drinkable.

Stone Soaring Dragon is available now in 12oz cans and draft throughout Stone Brewing’s distribution footprint so get out there and try it for yourself. And when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
