Modern Times Announces May Releases

MAY'S FIRST SPECIAL RELEASE SALE STARTS SATURDAY

IMPORTANT NEW PICKUP DETAILS: See below.

As quarantine persists, things remain uncertain and yet somehow simultaneously increasingly monotonous. It's a very strange phenomenon that we think can be at least partially remedied by an equal, opposite, and decidedly more rad force: delicious special release beers. To that end, we've decided to step our online game up with a breathtaking 2 SPECIAL RELEASE SALES PER MONTH.
That means a lot more beer, but it also means a few more details and some important logistical changes, so let's start with the important stuff:

  • Because we'll be juggling twice the inventory and logistics for pickups at all locations, the pick-up windows for sales moving forward will be 30 days for all coffees and beers, regardless of style.
  • All pickups are by appointment only. To make picking up your purchases easier, we're offering pickup reservations for the next 2 weeks during the sale. This means that you can purchase your beers and make a reservation all in one easy step. Don't want to pick up during the aforementioned 2 weeks? Well, keep on reading.
  • Weekly reservations go live every Tuesday around 2pm via this link.
We realize that a 30-day pickup window may not be ideal for everyone, and we totally acknowledge that we have plenty more work to do on streamlining everyone's online shopping experience. That said, we're doing our absolute best with the resources we have, and—in the absence of a majority of our traditional methods of getting beer into your faces—this is quite literally the most efficient approach for us right now. Please be patient with us as we navigate this strange new terrain, and feel free to hit us up with questions or feedback at info@moderntimesbeer.com.
NOW, let's get to the fun stuff! Check out this stupid-awesome lineup that's going live on Saturday morning:

DINOSAUR WORLD DIPA
One of our most beloved DIPAs is back for another round! This majestic beast is packed to the rafters with Citra, Amarillo, and Mosaic hops, yielding an earth-shaking blastwave of passion fruit, tangerine, and stone fruit awesomeness. Consider yourself formally invited for a delicious stroll down memory lane.

ORACOLO (COLLAB W/ WAYFINDER & HEATER ALLEN)
Our latest collab with the homies at Wayfinder and Heater Allen is a crisp and gloriously hoppy Italian-style pils that showcases some extremely choice American grown hops (Super Saaz & Crystal, specifically) with a supporting cast of classic German hop varieties. Prepare thy thirst for a thorough smiting.

COSMIC ENTITY
This marvelously decadent imperial dessert-stout is loaded with chocolate malts, vegan marshmallow, coconut, & vanilla. The resulting profile explodes with big notes of marshmallow and vanilla, followed by toasted coconut and soft vanilla flavors that linger in the finish along with hints of fudge brownie and fig. If you’re looking to treat yourself, you’ve found your beverage.
ABV: 13.3%

TIGER BILLIONAIRE TIPA
We stuffed this unbelievably tasty TIPA with boatloads of Galaxy, Nelson, Cashmere, Citra, and Simcoe hops. What resulted is a haze-beast of the highest caliber, with mouthwatering notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and white wine ensconced in a luxuriously smooth, hazy delivery system.
ABV: 10.4%

SPECTRUM OF DESIRE (COLLAB W/ CELLARMAKER)
This blend of bourbon barrel-aged and stainless imperial stout was infused with Dutch-process cocoa powder, a hefty 3lbs-per-barrel of house-roasted Brazil Eagle coffee beans, and a 50/50 blend of Papua New Guinea and Tanzanian vanilla. It’s just the kind of cozy, liquid blanket of delicious decadence we could probably all benefit from right about now.
ABV: 14%
Format: 22oz Bottle
Price: $19.50
Total Quantity: 4,000
Bottle Limit: 1

RADIX MÉLANGE: BARREL CUVÉE
This supremely delicious addition to the Radix series was born of a blend of 35% Roxbury Russet and 65% French/English bittersweet blend (the same blend as the previous sherry barrel-aged Radix Mélange), fermented with funky cultures and aged in maple bourbon barrels that had previously held Modem Tones. It’s a marvelous marriage of deep, funky complexity and serious drinkability.
ABV: 8%
Format: 375ml Bottle
Price: $12
Total Quantity: 642
Bottle Limit: 3

GLIMMER VOID
We added a hefty helping of strawberries to a blend of our red wine barrel-aged dark sour beers, resulting in this staggeringly tasty little number. Fermentation began with our house Lomaland yeast culture, but the robust sourness and heavy funk is the result of a secondary mixed fermentation featuring a plethora of Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, and Brettanomyces strains. The resulting beer is powerfully fruity, incredibly complex, and bursting with strawberry flavor and aroma.
