12 New Night Shift Releases for January

Our January beer line-up is everything you need to get through this cold, dark month. We've rounded them up here, along with details on where you can find them and when.

BRIAR WEISSE IS BACK

With the return of winter, we warmly welcome back Briar Weisse, a mixed fermentation sour ale brewed with blackberries and lemon peel. This crimson sour balances sweet and tart fruit notes and pairs perfectly with flavors like fruited balsamic and brie.
ABV: 5.2%

TAKE IT BACK NOW, Y'ALL

One Hop This Time: Simcoe is back in all its citrusy, earthy glory. While Simcoe hops are known for bright citrus flavors with earthy undertones, this year's crop is especially citrus-forward, producing notes of resinous pine, lemon, and clementine. This is one single-hop IPA you'll definitely want to try. (P.S., keep an eye out for more information about the next release of OHTT: Citra at the end of the month.)

IN DEVELOPMENT: AMERICAN LAGER #2

Batch #2 of our American Lager features notes of Hawaiian/Portuguese-style sweet bread and cereal grain, creating a beer that’s low in bitterness and finishes with a crisp carbonation. Grab a 4-pack of this new In Development Lager, and let us know what you think.

IN DEVELOPMENT: DOUBLE IPA

In a quest to explore two new hops, this is the first experimental batch of our In Development: Double India Pale Ale. Made using Apollo and Calypso, this beer is meant to create the perfect blend of hoppy, resinous aromas and fruity citrus notes. Take one down, pass it around, and then fill out our survey (instructions are on the back of the can) to let us know what you think.

OUT OF THIS WORLD

Night Shift fans might remember Secret Galaxies, an IPA that we brewed in collaboration with Widowmaker Brewing. Well, we went back to the lab, amplified the recipe into a Double IPA, and the result’s name speaks for itself. It's a hop combo of Ella, Topaz, and Vic Secret that's... you know... Out of This World.
ABV: 8.0%

A DOUBLE DRY-HOPPED HONEYHOP

Our big, toasty, sweet Triple IPA, Honeyhop is back with a twist — double dry-hopped Honeyhop! Brewed with Apollo, Citra, Idaho7, Simcoe, and Topaz hops as well as wildflower honey, this 2015 OG is practically dripping with sweet notes of honey and watermelon, with a sharp grapefruit peel finish.
ABV: 9.6%

ALL WE GOT: CHANCE THE DIPA

We got the juice, we got the juice. Originally brewed at Lovejoy Wharf as a small batch innovation project, Chance the DIPA is going out to stores and touring MA this month. Brewed with Apollo and Calypso hops, this New England DIPA is just as sweet as your Favorite Song. You don’t want zero problems big fella, so grab a 4-pack of Chance the DIPA before it’s gone.
ABV: Projected at 8.0%

AWAKE IS OUT TO STORES

Your favorite coffee porter is going out to stores this month, with a few slight tweaks to the recipe resulting in a lower ABV (6.0% vs. 6.7%) as well as updated cans. This latest batch is brewed using our Chelsea Blend of Night Shift Coffee (our new cans call it out!), so pick up a 4-pack and enjoy the ultimate Night Shift one-two punch.

INTRODUCING A DDH ANNIE OATLEY

America’s favorite sharpshooter has returned, and we've double dry hopped this latest batch for even sharper aromas and flavors. Made using a large proportion of oats in the mash (hence, the name), Annie Oatley is brewed using a combo of three modern American hops — Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra — for a uniquely creamy and full-bodied New England IPA that hits the mark.

FOR THE LAND DOWN UNDER

In the wake of the bush fires across Australia, we're brewing an extra special double dry-hopped DIPA. Made with two Australian-grown hops, Topaz and Vic Secret, as well as Citra, this beer will boast tropical fruit flavors with an underlying citrus note. $1 from each pour and 4-pack sold will be donated to relief efforts. Keep a lookout for more details and a pre-sale coming next week.

COCKTAIL-INSPIRED

We've also brewed up two cocktail-inspired releases in honor of our Mid-Century Mixer on Saturday, January 25th at our Everett Taproom. For an old fashioned-inspired rye beer brewed with orange peel, cherry juice, and almonds, look no further than Dash of Class. If margaritas are more of your thing, pop a can of Made in the Shade, a gose brewed with salt and lime.
