From Great Divide:
DENVER, CO - August 3, 2018 - This month Great Divide Brewing Company will release the third edition of their Wood Werks Barrel Series, a whiskey barrel aged brown rye ale and Hoss Oktoberfest Lager returns for the season.
Wood Werks No. 3 was aged in 10-year rye whiskey barrels for more than 13 months. The complex malt bill, paired with spirited characteristics from the aging process, makes for a smooth and full-bodied finish. This limited release is available in 12 oz bottles and draft with a 12.6 percent ABV.
“For our third Wood Werks beer we wanted to spice up the brown ale, a style that is often overlooked,” said Brandon Jacobs of Great Divide. “We did just that by brewing copious amounts of malted and flaked rye to an imperial brown to accentuate spicy and bready notes.”
Hoss is based on the Marzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt flavors with hints of cherry and dark fruits dominate while the unique addition of rye imparts an earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer. This seasonal is available August - September in 6-pack cans and draft with a 6.2 percent ABV.
“Whether it’s in the form of rye whiskey barrels or a late addition to unearth spicier notes, the use of rye creates belly-warming beers that are perfect for the fall,” said Jacobs.
