Double Mountain’s Releasing Devils & Tahoma Kriek

Double Mountain’s Releasing Devils & Tahoma KriekFrom Double Mountain:

Hood River, OR - July, 2018 – Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom is excited to release 2016 Devils & Tahoma Kriek’s! The wintery madness of 2016/17 produced very cold temps for the Hood River valley, and this beer developed slower than usual. For this special release, we held the beer for an extra year of aging to fully develop the complexity of the wild fermentation, and our patience has been rewarded. These are currently available in bottles at the Hood River Taproom and SE Portland Taproom in the Woodstock neighborhood. They can also be found in limited supply throughout the Northwest.

"I'm delighted to have watched the beautiful evolution of these two beers. The extra year of aging has brought more tartness and crispness from the Brett, giving a lush complexity to these wild beers.” – Brewmaster/Owner Matt Swihart

2016 Devil's Kriek

Belgian Style Sour Ale Brewed With Cherries

Description: Nearly four hundred pounds of Bing and Van cherries from the Double Mountain Orchard in the Columbia Gorge go into each batch of our Devil’s Kriek.  Our two house yeast strains are blended with Brettanomyces lambicus, and are allowed to roam freely for a year on the fruit in our cellar, developing its complex character.  This vintage brings dark ripe cherry, raspberry, and a sweet spring funk aroma to a bed of juicy red fruited jam with a crisp, tart finish. 9.2% ABV, 11 BU

2016 Tahoma (Rainier) Kriek

Belgian Style Sour Ale Brewed With Cherries

Description: Tahoma starts its life as a strong Belgian Blonde ale prior to the addition of Rainier cherries from the Columbia River Gorge.  Our two house yeast strains are blended with Brettanomyces lambicus, and are allowed free reign for a year on the fruit to develop its complex character. Pie cherry, kiwi jam, and summer farmhouse take the lead, giving way to a juicy, refreshingly tart finish. 9.9% ABV, 11BU
