From Penn Brewery:
You’ll soon be able to enjoy a Penn brew downtown when we open our new taproom at 432 First Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Firstside Historic district! The taproom will be opening towards the end of the year at the new First Avenue Lofts apartment building. Our new location, close to the new Distrikt Hotel and the in-the-works Fairfield Inn will make Penn the only brewery taproom in downtown Pittsburgh. We’re partnering with developer Todd Palcic on this project.
The taproom will also serve a streamlined menu of a dozen or so items, including hot sandwiches and salads perfect for lunch. Between eight and twelve beers will be on tap, including some specialty beers from our small-batch brewing system. Growler fills and six-pack will also be available for sale.
More details will be available as we near our opening date. We hope you’ll come down and check our new Penn taproom out!
Upcoming Small Batch Beers (available on draft at Penn Brewery restaurant).
The brew crew has been diligently plugging away crafting new beers on our small batch system. There’s always something new and exciting on draft! Here’s what’s on deck for the upcoming months:
-
Pennsylvania Ave Pale Ale – Amber in color, with tropical fruit forward hops, this brew has 6.25% ABV and 60 IBUs.
-
Penn Imperial IPA – This super-big IPA is a light-colored, dank & piney IPA with a low malt sweetness to showcase the Pacific Northwest hops. Penn Imperial IPA has 9% ABV and 91 IBUs.
-
Pangea Potion – This one’s a Belgian strong dark ale, complex with a rich, malty sweetness. It is characterized by dried and ripe dark fruit complexity from the malt bill and some phenolic flavor from yeast with soft perfumy alcohol notes. ABV 8.5%, IBUs 27.
