Longmont, CO - July 19, 2017 - In conjunction with the CAN'd Aid Foundation's mission to donate one million cans of clean drinking water for disaster relief nationwide, artists are invited to submit original artwork for the cans. The winning submission will convey the importance of sustainability and the environment, as well as highlight the benefits of the aluminum can (infinitely recyclable, portability, etc.).

This open call for proposals is hosted in partnership with the CAN'd Aid Foundation and The Ball Foundation. WESTAF (Western States Arts Federation) is providing its CallforEntry (CAFE™) service free of charge.

Any artists interested in submitting artwork should apply online via theCaFEwebsite, where they will submit digital images showcasing previous work along with their CANvas CANpaign original work of art. Each entry is $30, submissions must utilize THIS TEMPLATE and the deadline is Monday, August 31st.

Five finalists will be selected by a jury comprised of The Ball Foundation, CAN'd Aid Foundation and community arts members. A social media contest will then determine the winning artist, whose artwork will be featured on the cans and will receive a cash award of $2,500. Second place will receive $1,000 and third place will receive $500.

This project is part of CAN'd Aid's larger Crush it Crusade program that promotes hands-on, grassroots recycling initiatives across the country. The program is made possible thanks to a $150,000 grant from The Ball Foundation. The distribution of water is further made possible through an in-kind donation of one million cans from Ball Corporation, canning support from Oskar Blues Brewery and shipping partners nationwide.

In addition to providing clean water to those in need, the CANvas CANpaign aims to highlight, promote and support visual artists with a public platform for their work. Denver-based WESTAF is offering in-kind support to CAN'd Aid in the form of its online application and adjudication platform, Café (CallforEntry.org), in order to help CAN'd Aid engage the visual arts community and promote the project among CaFE's 130,000 registered artists.

"After successfully distributing 432,000 cans of clean water to communities in need in 2016, we are excited to scale this effort up to one million cans," says Diana Ralston Executive Director of the CAN'd Aid Foundation. "We're excited to showcase a visual artist's interpretation of 'infinitely recyclable' and look forward to seeing the submissions."----
