Pacific City, OR (June 28, 2017)—Pelican Brewing Company introduces a new quaff to its summer season lineup: welcome the bright, fresh flavor of Sun Flare dry-hopped pale ale. The juicy, fruity newcomer is available now for a limited time in 22 oz. bottles and draft.

With a color as bright as a sunny coastal day, Sun Flare embodies the pleasure of a trip to the beach. A clean malty backbone lays the foundation for this refreshing beer, while letting the zippy, fruity flavors of Meridian, El Dorado and Santiam hops shine. Never mind the squinty eyes and glare on the lens, enjoy the bright freshness of the perfect day on the beach with Sun Flare:

Pelicano returns!

Pelican welcomes the sun back to the beach with the Latin-inspired award-winning cerveza, Pelicano EXTRA! Pelicano returns to the seasonal sequence with 6-row malt and 25% flaked corn to give the beer a crisp, dry flavor that is balanced with Tettnang hops for a subtle spicy and floral character. At 5% abv Pelicano is a sessionable lager with enough flavor and complexity that you can say adios to the lime and just enjoy! Available now in 6 packs, 12 oz. bottles and draft—pick some up and you’ll find:

  • Straw color
  • Subtle spicy & floral hops
  • Ultra-refreshment
  • Soft, clean finish

“Both these refreshing beers pay homage to our beach roots—we want to share the experience of the perfect, bright, sunny day at the beach in both releases,” says Pelican brewmaster Darron Welch. “Sun Flare emphasizes the bright, fruity hop flavors, while Pelicano delivers a clean lager character with subtle floral highlights.”

Born at the Beach

Pelican was born at the beach 21 years ago as a small, standalone brewpub in a small town on the Oregon coast—Pacific City.  Pacific City is still a small town, but with consistent growth and demand for its products, Pelican sales are up more than 500% from 3,500 barrels in 2013 to 38,000 barrels this year. The company last year doubled its brewing and bottling capacity at its Tillamook facility and opened a new brewpub in Cannon Beach. Pelican also picked up eight medals including Champion Medium International Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards.
