It’s been a while since we let everyone know how we’re progressing over in America, so we figured it was high time for an update. Our adventures in Columbus are becoming ever more real as we have beer conditioning away in tank and more people joining the BrewDog USA crew all the time. So without further ado, let’s zipline across the Atlantic and discover just what has been happening in the Discovery City!
And we begin where it all begins – in our brewhouse…
It was very much an ‘I was there…’ moment as following rigorous testing of all electrical systems, boilers and vital processes like water treatment we produced the first batch of BrewDog beer brewed in another country. It’s amazing to think how different things are now from Martin’s Mum’s garage ten years ago – neither James, Martin (nor his Mum) ever thought we’d be firing up a state of the art 200HL/170BB brewhouse 3,500 miles away a decade later.
Our BrewDog USA team of brewers now brew several times a week and we currently have batches of Ohio-brewed Punk IPA, Dead Pony Club, Elvis Juice and Jet Black Heart in the tanks of our brewhouse and maturing away, ready to be served from the taps of DogTap Columbus! The team of engineers from KHS are also currently on site to commission the canning line so we can begin packaging those beers up for further afield in the US.
As you’d expect our warehouse is filling up fast with cans, kegs and brewing ingredients and we are just about to key in the massive cold-store in order to have all of our hops and finished beer chilled to lock in all of those aromas and flavours. Our entire procurement team have been working wonders purchasing raw materials and working on planning and scheduling – and for all of our BrewDog USA crew we are close to finalising an epic 11,000sqft office space for them!
Speaking of our team we are still advertising for several roles in Columbus but we are adding more faces every week. Our US Sales Team is now eight-strong and we are very close to launching our beer in our adopted home state. For the immediate future we are zeroing in on Ohio as an initial focus, and the team is busy formulating plans for launches and events once our BrewDog craft beer arrives and we can begin to get it to all of those thirsty, thirsty locals.
Finally we have now launched our US online shop, so that BrewDog supporters in America have access to the entire range of merchandise available at DogTap, wherever they live. With faster shipping times and reduced rates as the merch doesn’t have to go Trans-Atlantic, our Columbus crew are now packing and shipping merch orders from Ohio direct to all 50 US States!
